    Ode to the Breakfast Burrito

    May 19, 2016

The Bacon Bacon breakfast burrito to be specific.

Many of you may have heard of Pablo Neruda's "Oda al Tomate" (Ode to the Tomato). Not only was Pablo Neruda a famous Chilean poet and activist, but the man wrote an ode to food. Something spectacular indeed.

Here, we focus our attention on the breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito is one of the best food inventions to grace the brunch scene. It can take a variety of forms, but it is often know for: aiding hangovers, causing food comas, and delighting the eater with all that is good in this world (i.e. eggs, bacon, cheese, avocado). In San Francisco, there are a variety of breakfast burritos, but my favorite by far is made by Bacon Bacon in the Upper Haight.

Let me give you the menu description, so you can also start drooling: Scrambled Egg, Pulled Pork, Bacon, Avocado, Cheddar, Momma Lil’s Peppers

As you can see above, this burrito is everything you've dreamed of and more. It is large, flavorful, and all the ingredients are perfectly portioned so that each bite gets a little bit of everything. It is juicy, but not greasy. And to top it off, Bacon Bacon has Valentina hot sauce which is one of my favorites.

It is so good in fact, that I have a variety of different pictures from the many times that I have visited (I also happen to live a few blocks away, but that is irrelevant). If you want to make a morning out of it, hike up Twin Peaks for a spectacular view of the city and grab your burrito on the way down. I would STRONGLY advise against the burrito pre-hike, as I have once tried this, and my stomach did not agree. Additionally, Bacon Bacon has another location in SOMA, as well as a roaming food truck.

Above, I have taken my burrito home to enjoy with a Bloody Mary. This is the ultimate combination designed to induce a food coma. Take note accordingly.

Here I am enjoying it in the cafe along with some friends who ordered breakfast sandwiches, which are also quite delicious.

Do yourself a favor, and try a Bacon Bacon breakfast burrito. Soon, you may be writing an ode as well.
